Slasher film fans rejoice! It’s been twenty-four years since Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson unleashed Ghostface on the world. Now for a fifth time, he is ready to make his return in 2022. Today it was announced that the fifth film from the Scream franchise will be titled… wait for it… Scream.
Williamson, who happens to be the original writer, made the announcement today via his social media accounts. With the announcement of the title, he also announced that they have wrapped up filming Scream as well. As well as the fact that he believes that the late Craven would be very proud of the film that they have put together. You can check it out below!
That’s a wrap on Scream, which I’m excited to announce is the official title of the next film! Nearly 25 years ago, when I wrote Scream and Wes Craven brought it to life, I could not have imagined the lasting impact it would have on you, the fans. (1/3) pic.twitter.com/RCuhVUclG4

This new Scream film will star Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Sonia Ammar, Jasmin Savoy Brown with Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell.
Creative Team on Scream
It’s being directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. Written by James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick. Williamson serves as executive producer along with Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, Chad Villella, Cathy Konrad, Ron Lynch. Produced by William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and Vanderbilt. Scream is presented by Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group.
We’ve seen that there are some iconic killers that are timeless. In 2018 David Gordon brought back Halloween. Now it’s time to see if Scream has that kind of comeback. The last time we saw Scream was in the MTV/VH1 television series that lasted for three seasons. It just so happens that I have recently become more of a fan of slasher films. Going back to watch some of these iconic characters as an adult has me appreciating the genre a lot more. I feel confident that with Williamson as executive producer and with some of the original cast back, this film will do well!
