Announcement of a New Cast Member

The big surprise came from a thrilling announcement by Rick Riordan and Disney+ revealed that Daniel Diemer, known for his role in “Under the Bridge,” will star as the fan-favorite cyclops Tyson.

The Disney+ Original series, produced by Disney Branded Television and 20th Television, is set to begin filming its second season next week in Vancouver. Season two is based on “The Sea of Monsters,” the second installment in Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series by award-winning author Rick Riordan.

In this new season, Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year after the events of the first season, only to find his world in turmoil. His friendship with Annabeth is evolving, he discovers he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and the camp is under siege from Kronos’ forces. Percy’s quest to restore order will lead him into the treacherous Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.

Diemer’s character, Tyson, is a young Cyclops who grew up alone on the streets, struggling to survive in the human world. Shy and awkward, but with a heart as big as he is, Tyson learns that Poseidon is his father, making Percy Jackson his half-brother. This revelation offers Tyson a sense of belonging and home he has never known.

Diemer is no stranger to compelling roles. He recently starred in the Hulu limited series “Under the Bridge,” based on the critically acclaimed book about the true story of a missing teen girl in Vancouver in 1997. His upcoming projects include the indie film “Thug,” where he stars alongside Liam Neeson and Ron Perlman under the direction of Hans Petter Moland. Diemer also led the cast in the indie films “Supercell” with Alec Baldwin and Skeet Ulrich, and “Little Brother” with Phil Ettinger and JK Simmons. He appeared in Netflix’s series “The Midnight Club” and starred in the hit Netflix feature “The Half Of It,” directed by Alice Wu. A graduate of the Victoria Academy of Dramatic Arts in Vancouver, Diemer continues to make a significant impact in the entertainment industry.

Fans of the “Percy Jackson” series are eagerly awaiting the new season, which promises to bring their beloved characters and stories to life with even more excitement and adventure.
