Disney’s Pinocchio teaser trailer has been released. And I know it’s directed by the great Robert Zemeckis, but I didn’t want another Disney remake and I really didn’t want this project to be live-action.
Who Will Win The Battle Of The Wooden Puppets?
Disney’s Pinocchio will be released on Disney+ Day, September 8, and Netflix’s Pinocchio in December. I wonder which movie will be better received. The stop-motion is, of course, my preference between these two movies, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Some trailers can look great or terrible and the final product is the complete opposite so it could be good. Although, the fox and the cat look weird. I also found it annoying that our wooden puppet friend is in the thumbnail, but can be barely seen in the teaser trailer. We only get to see like a second of a rear angle of him with the fairy.

Speaking of the Blue Fairy, I hate to tell a woman she needs to smile. But if she’s coming at me with a magic wand, I’d like a more friendly expression before she does something to me. I need some reassurance. See! That’s why the content in trailers are so important! At least Pinocchio isn’t alive yet to be freaked out. I also found it strange how most of the teaser felt like a Disney movie, but I got some clips that look like Tim Burton’s work. Some of the night scenes look Disneyesque, but some looked dark and gritty like a Burton film. There were talks of Burton making a Pinocchio film 10 years ago so maybe it’s a nod to him.
Starring as Geppetto is Tom Hanks, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Pinocchio, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket. Also starring is Cynthia Erivo (the Blue Fairy), Lorraine Bracco (Sofia the Seagull), Keegan-Michael Key (“Honest” John), Luke Evans (The Coachman). This movie has many big names attached to it, but looking at Disney’s history with their remakes and the teaser trailer I saw, I don’t think these big names can save it.
