Queen of Spades Trailer Reminds Us We Still Like Supernatural Games

Despite numerous stories about playing silly games with the supernatural, young people flock towards these activities as much as the Tide Pods challenge. With Queen of Spades, it is cross between films like Candyman and The Exorcist.

In this horror film, a young girl accidentally summons a demonic spirit by chanting her name at a mirror three times and thus opening a door to some other dimension to let her in.

The cast includes Ava Preston, Daniel Kash, Kaelen Ohm, Eric Osborne, Jamie Bloch, Nabil Rajo, and Krista Marchand. Patrick White directed the film from a screenplay written by White and John Ainslie. The original story is by Svyatoslav Podgaevskiy.

Here’s the full synopsis of Queen of Spades:

According to legend, an ominous entity known as the Queen of Spades can be summoned by performing an ancient ritual. Those brave enough draw a door and a staircase on a mirror, in darkness, and say her name three times. What happens next must be experienced to be believed. Four teenagers decide to summon the Queen of Spades as a joke. But they could never imagine the horrors this innocent prank has condemned them and their loved ones to. The evil entity won’t stop until she gets their souls.

Although Queen of Spades can be a copycat to any supernatural horror story, these teen horror films still prove to be an excellent quick scare addictive horror. Hopefully, there’ll be plenty of twists and turns to make it unique enough to distinguish the rest in this crowded genre. On the other hand, the demonic creature does look freaky in the trailer.

Queen of Spades is in select theaters on June 11, On Demand on June 15, and then finally released on Blu-ray on June 29.
