This weekend will be quite the throwdown. Not only are we getting Ralph Breaks the Internet and Creed II, but The Grinch is entering its third weekend and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald its second. But who will come out on top?
Well, perhaps not surprisingly, the film set to come out on top is none other than Ralph Breaks the Internet. According to Box Office Mojo, the film is tracking at around $71.8 million, just $1.1 million shy of what Coco delivered last year. Based on its reception and the number of theaters it’s opening in, this is what we’re looking at for the five-day cume. Disney, on the other hand, is keeping their expectations a bit lower with a high-$60 million estimate. However, with its $3.8 million in Tuesday numbers, it seems like that more ambitious figure is more likely. This has it outpacing the original film, though it’s worth noting that film didn’t launch during Thanksgiving weekend.

Creed II did better than expected, taking in $3.7 million in Tuesday previews, more than doubling Creed‘s $1.4 million in the same weekend. The film is expected to take in $54 million in its opening weekend, that that’s without taking into account those Tuesday numbers. Can it possibly reach $60 million or even rival Ralph Breaks the Internet?
One film I’m looking at personally is Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. This was a film that underwhelmed the box office in its opening weekend, and with some stiff competition heading into this weekend, the outlet predicts a 53% drop, making for $29 million over three days and $41 million over five. But, will audiences who missed it in its first weekend come to see it the second weekend, or will the middling reactions all around keep them at bay?
It’ll be an interesting weekend for sure.
