RDJ Asked For Reshoots As He Wasn’t In Doom’s Suit For Scenes Shot For Avengers: Doomsday | Barside Buzz

According to a new rumor, RDJ asked for around three weeks of reshoots because he wasn’t initially in Doom’s suits for scenes in Avengers: Doomsday. Quite the claim, alongside reports of a very dysfunctional set for the tentpole movie. The information comes from Jeff Sneider on this week’s The Hot Mic with co-host John Rocha.

Sneider says he’s heard some rumors/gossip about some things happening on set. You can watch the video below, time stamp is 00:35:44. However, I’ll do my best to transcribe it below for those that would prefer to read.

“I’ve heard that even though they paid this actor [Robert Downey Jr.] $50-60 million a movie, they’ve [Disney’s] had to reshoot for three weeks. They reshot three weeks worth of material because apparently–this is just what I heard–they had an actor standing in for Downey Jr. In the [Doctor Doom] suit. They had a body double and they had a face double and Downey stood off-camera reading the lines, okay. And apparently, after two or three weeks, he was like ‘This isn’t working. I want to reshoot everything with me in the suit.'”

This doesn’t sound like it could be real. I mean, I’m not saying it is or isn’t, just seems bizarre even if trye that professional people would allow such a thing to happen.

“The dysfunction I’ve heard on [Doomsday] set is rivalled only by that of Fast and Furious movies. I mean, we’ve alluded to an incident BTS early this year that I did not want to go details on and it was probably more you know, someone made it sound more dramatic to me than it really was, but…yeah. I think again, there’s just a lot of testosterone and a lot of ego on that set. A lot of people who think they know what way is the best way. In the end, there’s only one person’s way who matters and that’s actually Robert Downey Jr.’s way.”

Now folks, remember that dysfunction on a movie set, with the right talent can make for a great movie. I’m sure I don’t need to cite examples of classic, beloved movies that were a nightmare to film.

However, whether this is true or not, it feels like the kind of detail we will never find out about definitively.

Another piece of Marvel buzz is that Sneider is adamant that Marvel are looking to cast a new T’Challa. Sneider has no idea what version of Black Panther this is, nor who will play him. This is a claim he’s made before, and he also reiterates that the casting call’s to agencies is out for the X-Men movie already.

What do you think of this Barside Buzz around RDJ not wearing Doom’s suit for scenes on Avengers: Doomsday, then asking for reshoots? You buy it, or nah? Thoughts below.
