REVEALED: Why Is Commissioner Gordon Actor So Jacked In ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’?

A couple of weeks ago, people had a lot to say about some photos of J.K. Simmons getting in fairly chiseled shape. The photos began circulating right around the time that JUSTICE LEAGUE began production, so the natural assumption was that he was getting ripped for his portrayal of the iconic DC character, Commissioner Jim Gordon. Director Zack Snyder has always had a penchant for heroically cut characters looking like they were ripped from the books, but Gordon has rarely- if ever- been portrayed this way.

So what’s the deal? Why has Simmons been hitting the gym so hard? Is JUSTICE LEAGUE going to feature a badass action hero version of Gordon?

This is all coincidental,” Simmons said while promoting the home release of KUNG FU PANDA 3. “After the second and final time that I got hugely fat in my life and when I lost that weight six or seven years ago, I pretty much decided that I was going to stay in decent shape for the rest of my life.

I’ve gone back and forth with fine-tuning the kind of conditioning I’m doing,” the 61 year old actor explained of his workout regimen. “Sometimes trying to shed weight and getting leaner and sometimes trying to pack on a little more muscle.

Simmons assures fans that Commissioner Gordon will look very much like the way we’re used to. “I’m not going to mess with something that iconic,” he said.

Recent reports from the set of JUSTICE LEAGUE have revealed that Simmons does, indeed, look like the classic version of the character. The beard has been shaved off, and he’s sporting a full head of hair.
