Rian Johnson Thinks Cancelled The Hunt For Ben Solo Is A Great Idea

Following recent news that this film was cancelled, Star Wars director Rian Johnson thinks The Hunt for Ben Solo is a great idea. Johnson, a name of some infamy in the Star Wars fandom, directed Episode 8: The Last Jedi. My feelings on the Star Wars sequels have been aired enough I won’t go there again. However, one character I really loved and thought it was a mistake to kill was Ben Solo.

As we know already, Adam Driver who played Solo was ready to reprise the role in a movie from Steven Soderbergh tentatively called The Hunt for Ben Solo. The movie was approved by Lucasfilm, but not Disney’s senior execs, who canned it.

Who knows whether Rian Johnson would have killed off Solo/Ren in Episode 9 had he been in charge? However, that was the main issue Disney had, Lucasfilm just had the character sacrifice himself to save Rey. Yeah, it sucks that Episode 9 was utter dogmeat, but we cannot erase it.

In a recent interview with Collider, Johnson seems he thinks Hunt for Ben Solo is a great idea.

“Take my money! I only know what I read about it online. I didn’t know anything about it, but who knows how things are developed these days? But man, I will watch Driver in anything, but I would love to see him play that character again.”

I’ll quickly say what I got into detail more about on the related link above. If they could do it in a way that didn’t make me roll my eyes like Palpatine, go for it. If it’s a stretch, then leave it be.

So, Rian Johnson thinks The Hunt for Ben Solo is a great idea, do you? Thoughts below.
