Rumor: Batman Script Likely Up For Full Rewrite, More Delays

It appears that there are more rumors surrounding The Batman‘s delay, from some very credible sources. We have already reported rumors that the film could be delayed, as seen here, but now SlashFilm is reporting that the script will get a full rewrite, and some fans may be worried that Deathstroke will not even be included. This would completely sadden a certain reporter here, who happens to be writing this article, but hey, life goes on.

Before we get into this, I would like to address the problems Ben Affleck has been having as of late. There is no need for specifics, but there are two types of people in this world; the ones that realize they need help, and the ones that do not. I applaud Mr. Affleck for seeking help, and I am sure he will get back in true form before we even realize it. If you have no idea what I am talking about, I’ll let Affleck explain his situation instead of rehashing it here.

That being said, we already heard The Batman was getting delayed due to Reeves finishing up War of the Planet of the Apes, so this indicated that The Batman would not even start production until 2018 at the earliest. However, today we are hearing via Variety‘s Justin Kroll that this is confirmed via inside sources, which may not be a bad thing. A clear headed Affleck, Geoff Johns, and Matt Reeves working together on this might give us the DCEU movie we have all been craving. Check out what Kroll has to say on twitter.

To me, this means that Reeves wants to have his own project with his own ideas, and if he is going to stick with it he will need a large amount of creative control. Johns has his own ideas, and he is a guy I trust in the DC Universe, so if he is giving Reeves the nod, then there must be an outstanding idea in place. I just hope thye find a way to keep my beloved Deathstroke.

The most important thing, even if it takes until 2022, is that they get the film right. We will always compare future Batman films to the Christopher Nolan trilogy, and I am sure the main three behind this new film would at least like to be in that conversation.

What do you guys think? How long until we get The Batman? Will the wait be worth it?
