Marvel Studios is singlehandedly responsible or ushering in the current age of superhero films — an age where shared universes exist left and right and studios are scraping the bottom of the barrel to bank on even the most obscure of comic book properties. The studio managed to spin gold out of straw in the past with then-B-list heroes like Thor and Captain America (and Z-list heroes like the Guardians of the Galaxy), so who’s to say they can’t do it again.
It’s with that in mind that we delve into today’s hot rumor. According to the outlet AICN, they have word that Marvel Studios is renting out space at Pinewood studios to hold auditions for Captain Britain and the Black Knight. And the man on board to bring that to the big screen? Guy Ritchie.

That’s right, Mr. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels himself could be helming a Marvel Studios picture in the near future…maybe. That, of course, is assuming that this report is real, and even the outlet acknowledge that their source ain’t really vetted, so this could all just be complete B.S., but let’s take a moment to break down whether or not this could be real.
Simply put…yes. It’s possible. Why? Two reasons.
One. Guy Ritchie is in postproduction on Aladdin, meaning that he already has a working relationship with Disney, who owns Marvel Studios. Directors have moved between the studios in the past, so who’s to say they wouldn’t again in this case? Two, the timing works out. With Aladdin winding down, it’s not completely out of the question that he could begin gearing up for his next bit, perhaps taking a break to find their hero.
But what do you think? Can you see Guy Ritchie helming a Captain Britain and the Black Knight movie? Sound off down below!
