A bit of rumor/speculation around that there could be a secret Avengers movie, set in between Doomsday and Secret Wars. Now this hit yesterday but initially I wasn’t sure it was worth covering. However, this has become a hot topic in the last 24 hours. Therefore, here we are.

So, the best place to start is that there remains on the Disney slate an untitled Marvel movie due to hit Summer of 2027. As of now, that film if it exists is completely unknown. Our schedule is Spider-Man: Brand New Day next Summer, Doomsday in December, ‘Untitled Marvel movie’ Summer 27′ and Secret Wars December 27′.

That’s the facts as they stand, and a recent article from Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Multiverse has started getting some fans thinking. The outlet has dropped off the radar for leaks and scoops since Lizzie left to form TCC. However, Murphy himself still has a good reputation, he just doesn’t leak much anymore.

Anyway, Murphy isn’t saying this is a scoop. Instead it’s based on speculation based on some vague information he’s heard. No one has told him there’s a secret third Avengers film. However, he wonders whether there may just be one anyway?

I’ve since seen a few leakers react to this article suggestively, but none have stuck their neck out to make a claim yet. Therefore, please take all this with a massive pinch of salt. For all we know, that slot will get cancelled. However, Marvel absolutley has time to get a movie into a Summer 2027 slot at this point.

Murphy, you can check his article out in the link above, lays out his reasoning. I have to say I agree on the most part with him. I think this line is worth quoting.

“Had to put this together today after a conversation with one of the best sources I’ve ever had…I’ll stress this was a conversation, not info sharing but it gave me plenty to think about.”

However, my own personal guess, is that Blade is more likely, Murphy thinks that’s the only other possibility.

“The hiring of new writers or directors has not been made public, and no new production companies that aren’t already believed to be accounted for have been made. That would mean that the film would be something that’s been in development for a few years, and that would, of course, bring to mind Blade.”

Of course there is one other option. The one I suggested above, that the slot gets pulled and Marvel only releases Secret Wars in 2027. A month or two ago, I would have said this was unlikely and I had a possible Doctor Strange 3 as a good fit for the slot. But now, as we get farther along the road, and there’s still no rumors even, I dunno?

I’m a sceptic by nature, so I think if Marvel were going to do this, they’d just market it for the online buzz. Then again, I’m no marketing exec.
