Blade Runner 2049 comes out a week from today! Ryan Gosling stars as the new, young blade runner K, who must track down former blade runner Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford). While Ford is no stranger to Blade Runner, Gosling is new to the franchise.
Ryan Gosling was on hand at a recent press junket for Blade Runner 2049, and LRM was in attendance. Gosling shared his thoughts on the script, which is partially what attracted him to the project.
“Then to read a script that had such, you know, was a love letter in certain ways to the original but was also very much its own thing. It was respectfully carrying out the narratives and themes of the original, but at the same time introducing its own conceptual ideas that still was massive in scale but at the same time integrated, personal, emotional. This is an experience that is unique to Blade Runner, and a wonderful opportunity for me to be a part of something very unique.”

In addition to its spectacular visuals, the script and plot are being praised as true to the original film while also breaking new and satisfying ground, just as Gosling noted himself. So, this isn’t simply an actor selling his next film, this appears to be truth, verified by critics.
We should all be in for a real treat when Blade Runner 2049 finally makes its way into theaters next Friday, October 6, 2017.
