Sebastian Stan isn’t like most Marvel Cinematic Universe actors. Having played Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier since 2011, the actor has no intention of leaving the role. Until Kevin Feige kicks him out of the universe, that is. This comes at a time where most the original Avengers cast is either retired or doing what is assumed to be their last projects. Except Chris Hemsworth. I don’t think he’ll ever leave the MCU.
Sebastian Stan spoke to Variety about his future as Bucky:
It’s not up to me. I don’t make these decisions. As long as they’ll keep calling, I’m there. I don’t know. I get old, too. Like everyone in the world, I AGE! So I don’t know what that means. Maybe it doesn’t mean anything! I have no idea. I’m just going for the ride.

After being asked if he would platy Bucky into his 80s, Sebastian Stan added:
May I be so lucky. It’s really quite wild, it really is. A lot of people on TV, there are shows that have gone on for so many seasons, Friends, I mean, there’s a lot of where…you get to go and play a character for such a long period of time. It’s like gaining a family member. You gain, like, a brother or something in this case for me. You get to see this character again and again, and then you’re always growing up, and they’re sort of growing up with you in a weird way.
Hot off The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and with Captain America 4 said to be on the way, there seem to be plenty of opportunities for Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes. I could see him sticking around for a while… unless Marvel Studios decides to kill the character off. It would make for quite a emotional death, as the character has been around since 2011, appearing in 5 movies and the Disney+ series so far.
