In an update from Marvel Studios, Secret Invasion is labelled as a crossover series. The Disney+ website has a new description for the upcoming series and it reads as follows.
“Secret Invasion is a newly announced series heading to Disney+ that stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos—characters who first met in Captain Marvel. The crossover event series showcases a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.”
I guess this makes sense when you think about it. Secret Invasion is the culmination of many teases from different movies and shows. Chronologically we would start with Captain Marvel and the characters of Fury and Talos. However we also have teases in the post credit scene of WandaVision and Spider-Man: Far From Home to lead us towards the path where we are headed with this show.
You also have to imagine that Secret Invasion will also be a jump off point for more stories. One immediately thinks of The Marvels and Armor Wars (still coming) given the players we know are involved in the Secret Invasion series.

Unless you were in attendance at Hall H for Marvel Studios SDCC presentation then you’re waiting to see that trailer the audience got. I’m hoping it will make it’s way online, officially, before long. As of right now, we still do not have a release date for Secret Invasion outside of Spring ’23. Though given where the show appears on the graphic below. One must assume Secret Invasion hits sometime in March or April.
Originally Secret Invasion was planned for this year. However production delays for a variety of reasons have caused Marvel Studios to place the show within Phase 5 now instead.
The final movie of Phase 4 will be Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, whereas Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is billed as the beginning of Phase 5. As we will see in an article published about an hour after this, that does leave one project in a limbo between Phases.
