In recent days, there have been rumors surrounding the next entry in the Tomb Raider video game franchise. Rise of the Tomb Raider having been out for about three years, it seemed about time that we’d be getting the third entry in the rebooted franchise. Plus, just a couple days ago, it was leaked that the game was set for a September 2018 release date. But is it true?
As revealed by a brand-new teaser trailer for the upcoming game, yes it is very true. An, oh yeah, there’s a new teaser trailer! in the footage, we see our leading lady Lara Croft running through the jungle, tumbling down hills, climbing up cliff faces, and seemingly on the run from mosquito net-covered baddies.
Sadly, we never get a full-on look of Lara Croft, but seeing as this is just a teaser trailer, that’s more than forgivable. The footage shown here isn’t not of the gameplay-type, though we do see what looks to be some Mayan architectures, meaning that the game likely takes place in Central America.
Another tick in favor of the Mayan-centric storyline is the new logo, which has the letter “O” in Tomb resembling a solar eclipse. The Mayans famously predicted solar eclipses hundreds of years ago, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the story revolves around Mayans, solar eclipses, and some sort of ancient legend.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider hits Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on September 14, 2018!
