Shang-Chi character details revealed by Michelle Yeoh!
Veteran actress Yeoh is of course appearing in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. And no, that does not mean former Guardian of the Galaxy Aleta Ogord is making an appearance in Shang-Chi. Here Yeoh will be playing a character she says is the guardian of a mythical land. Yeoh recently spoke to Collider and had this to say about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
“We are so happy that we are having our first Asian superhero. And not just superhero but superheroines around him as well, and I am a guardian of a mythical city. These young people come in and they have to learn how to protect history, and to protect not just this world but the worlds that are around us from the demons that are locked away. So it’s magic, it’s reality, so many things happening and it’s a lot of fun.”

Of course the Yeoh mention of a mythical city, has some fans and the source themselves speculating on whether K’un-Lun is about to make its MCU debut? No, Iron Fist doesn’t count because it’s now been established that those Netflix shows take place in a variant of the MCU. Equally Agents of SHIELD which had more connection to the MCU than the Netflix shows has been completely ignored by those at Marvel Studios.
It’s possible this hidden mythical city is K’un-Lun. However, that is just speculation and it could easily be something else adapted from Chinese mythology or the comics themselves. There are a few plot details I think we can nail down based on what we know so far. This is all marketed information so nothing Marvel does not already want fans to know. However, it appears Mandarin, the father of Shang-Chi allowed him to go live in America. Now though, the father wants his son back and he doesn’t want to go. The backdrop plot is this hidden city which seems to have a connection to the legend of the Ten Rings from the title. There’s also some kind of water dragon there, and I’m guessing this is where Shang-Chi learns to be a hero.
Oh, and there’s a fighting tournament of some kind which has Abomination fighting Wong. Clearly we only know some basic information on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. What do you think about Michelle Yeoh’s Shang-Chi character details? Where do you stand on K’un-Lun?
