Shazam! sequel production was halted by the Covid-19 pandemic this summer. It will not permanently derail plans for the sequel.
Although a lot of details and cast are under wraps for the sequel, actress Marta Milans confirmed via telephone that she would be returning as Mama Rosa Vasquez in the sequel. Her character is the foster mother to the family of new superheroes, who just acquired their superpowers in 2019’s Shazam!
It’s expected all the major players—in their adult and children bodies—to return in the sequel. With that in mind, it was assumed the parents will return as well. After all, the children will need wise parental figures guiding them with their newfound superpowers.
It is also very likely that Papa Victor Vasquez (played by Cooper Andrews) will have to return too.
Milans has her ideas and wishes for her character in the sequel. She wants to fly.
“Honestly, I was talking to our writers and told them to do whatever they want. But, make sure that Mama Rosa has her own cape, and she can fly. I really want to fly in the sequel,” she exclusively told LRM Online. “I don’t know if they’ll listen to me. I don’t know if they’ll listen to me. I don’t know if they’ll give me a cape, but Mama Rosa will be present.”
She continued, “In the movie, all my kids fly. As one of the powers, I would love to fly with them.”

She couldn’t reveal any plot details on the sequel, except there were plans to start production this summer.
Will her storyline follow the comic books? She wasn’t so sure.
“At the end of the day, it’s based on the comics—but loosely based on the comics. There’s been a lot of freedom as far as what we’ve been doing. It’s similar to the first comic books, but not word for word. There’s quite a lot of room for a new adventure,” she explained.
For giggles, we even asked her dream superpower. And, it’s not the power of flight.
She responded, “If you were to ask me what superpower I would want to have—it would certainly be the power to heal. I’ve always thought about that. Being able to heal people that are in pain, love ones, and people that you don’t know—I don’t think there’s any better superpower.”
Director David F. Sandberg returns to hem the untitled Shazam! sequel with Henry Gayden penning the script. Zachary Levi, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Asher Angel are expected to return to their roles. The sequel’s scheduled release date is set for November 4th of 2022.
The full interview with Marta Milans will be published tomorrow. She discusses exclusively with LRM Online about two very popular shows right now with Starz’s The Pier and Netflix’s White Lines. Check it out tomorrow.
