Shazam! Director Adds Henry Cavill To The End Of The Film…But Don’t Get Too Excited

Many fans are annoyed by continuity issues in universes. I know the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about as perfect as a universe gets, but even it has its faults. Between its Rhodey and Bruce Banner, there are enough little inconsistencies to drive the detail-oriented mad. However, they are pretty good at their cameos. Across all their films, when a character pops up, you can rest easy knowing that character is being played by the appropriate actor.

This isn’t the case with the DC Extended Universe. Earlier this year saw the Joker being played by a body double in Birds of Prey, but that’s not the first time this has happened. Back in 2019, Shazam! did it first. At the end of the film, Shazam himself invited the one and only Superman to Billy and Freddy’s school lunch. Unfortunately, Henry Cavill was nowhere to be seen. Instead, we saw the torso of the Man of Steel and nothing more.

On the heels of the recent report that Cavill was in talks to make future appearances in the DC Extended Universe once again, David F. Sandberg took action. The Shazam! filmmaker finagled his way into the movie and brought Cavill back. Sort of.

Okay, so let’s mention two things. First, that appearance of Cavill is hilarious and weird. Second, that this is actually not on HBO Max. Using predictable trickery, Sandberg only made it LOOK like he added Cavill into the film. But if you have HBO Max, you can see for yourself that it’s nothing but a ruse.

Sadly, this means Shazam! will continue to be that movie where Superman wasn’t actually shown. If that bothers you know, it will continue to bother you in perpetuity. But perhaps the video gave you just the slightest bit of solace…I guess.

Do you wish Henry Cavill could have shown up as Superman in Shazam!? Let us know your thoughts down below!
