Looks like Santa Claus is coming back to town.
After six movies of the horror franchise Silent Night Deadly Night, the cult classic film will be rebooted by Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios.
Back in the 80s, it was known as one of the most controversial horror films at the time. Silent Night, Deadly Night tells the story of a child who is traumatized after seeing his parents killed by a man dressed as Santa Claus. Years later, he dons a Santa suit himself and gets bloody revenge on the naughty list.
The first slasher film released in 1984 starred Robert Brian Wilson, Lilyan Chauvin, Gilmer McCormick, Toni Nero, and Linnea Quigley. In theaters, it opened with $2.5 million on a mere budget of $750,000.
With a huge cult following, it spawned four more sequels with the fourth and fifth installments with no connections to the origin film. In 2012, there was a loose remake Silent Night that starred Jaime King and Malcolm McDowell.
“The continued desire for horror content and the ongoing success of the genre meant it was the perfect time to be able to offer this chilling revival of the iconic title,” said Dennis Whitehead of Wonderwheel Entertainment.
No cast, writer, and director announcement at this time.

This is the second announcement from Black Hanger Studios in a week. Earlier, that studio announced the remake of Jeepers Creepers: Reborn coming to theaters.
As for Silent Night, Deadly Night, the film marked for release some time next year (guessing closer to the holidays).
A cult horror film like this is ripe for a remake for the new generation. Many younger generations are not familiar with classic cult horror. For myself, I only remember the opening scene of a horrified child witnessing the murder of his parents. So, call me interested.
