Remember Skyline, that 2010 sci-fi movie? Yeah, me neither. When I got the assignment to cover this story, I had no idea what film it was until I did a cursory search. Then I remembered…slightly. It was a film that opened a few months before Battle: Los Angeles, which had a similar premise on the surface. Many folks felt like the two films were set to cannibalize each other. Similar to what would later happen with Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down. Skyline ended up being a critical failure- both with fans and professional critics- yet it managed to to turn a $10 million budget into a $66 million return.
Which brings us to today’s news…
Skyline is getting a sequel. It’ll be called Beyond Skyline, and the fellow that produced and wrote the first film, Liam O’Donnell, will this time serve as director. The sequel was officially announced at Cannes, and a sales poster for the flick was promptly released.
Here it is, for your viewing pleasure:
No word yet on the cast. Last one featured the talents of Eric Balfour, David Zayas, & Donald Faison.
