Fans of the beloved 2016 animated film Moana are in for a treat. A brand-new TV spot has offered the first look at Moana 2, including an exciting new song, “We’re Back,” setting the stage for the sequel. The highly anticipated animated musical is set to hit theaters on November 27, 2024, and promises to take audiences on an exhilarating new voyage.

Auli‘i Cravalho returns to voice the title character, Moana, alongside Dwayne Johnson reprising his iconic role as the demigod Maui. This time, the duo embarks on a thrilling journey into the uncharted seas of Oceania. After receiving a mysterious call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana sets sail once again—this time with a motley crew of seafarers—for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever experienced.

The movie brings back several fan-favorite characters, including Gramma Tala (voiced by Rachel House), Chief Tui (Temuera Morrison), and Moana’s mother, Sina (Nicole Scherzinger). Joining the voice cast are newcomers Hualālai Chung as Moni, David Fane as Kele, and Rose Matafeo as Loto—Moana’s new crewmates. Other fresh faces include Awhimai Fraser as the enigmatic Matangi, Gerald Ramsey as Moana’s ancestor, Tautai Vasa, and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda as Moana’s sweet younger sister, Simea.

Directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller, Moana 2 is shaping up to be another hit. The movie’s soundtrack will feature music by Grammy® winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa‘i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.

Jared Bush, one of the writers of the first Moana, returns to co-write the sequel with Dana Ledoux Miller. The film is produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, with executive production credits going to Jennifer Lee, Jared Bush, and Dwayne Johnson.
