I am sure most of you have seen the latest trailer for the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and if not you are sure to have seen some of the images. Let’s face it, Sonic doesn’t look good and fans have made their voices known online about it since the first images were released.
Well, now those voices have been heard as the movie’s director Jeff Fowler has taken to social media to tell fans that the design will get a major overhaul before the release date. Check it out
Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast 🔧✌️

Now, the release date for Sonic is supposed to be November 8, and that does not really give them much time to totally redesign the character. Of course, they could delay the movie, but they’d likely only want to delay by weeks at most as Paramount will surely want to hit that youth crowd during the holiday season.

The thing is, will this hurt he movie financially? Well, probably yes, because the criticisms are really going beyond the look of Sonic himself for this trailer, so it’s going to take some mammoth effort and word of mouth to turn this movie around from this point.
What do you think of this decision, was it the right one to make or should they have just pushed through?
