Sons of Anarchy fans who are waiting to get their biker gang fix won’t have to hang on much longer, as FX has confirmed that its spinoff series, Mayans MC, has been picked up for a ten-episode series order. The series is set to premiere this year. The announcement was made today at TCA.
This wasn’t exactly an easy road. The pilot underwent some major changes, including the recasting of some key roles. This isn’t exactly uncommon — and even Sons of Anarchy had similar changes made — but shows that it needed some real retooling before FX saw it as a good fit.

Deadline describes Mayans MC as follows:
“Mayans MC is set in a post-Jax Teller world, where EZ Reyes (JD Pardo), fresh out of prison, is a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Now EZ must carve out his new outlaw identity in a town where he once was the golden boy who had the American Dream within his grasp.”
