Sony is developing a Spider-Man TV series based on the Clone Saga for Amazon Prime, plus we have some rumored details on the show. Sony have been open about developing more Spider-Man IP projects outside of the MCU, but also being careful not to go back to their ill fated SSMU. Spider-Noir was I guess the most recent experiment, but despite critical acclaim the show was cancelled due to poor viewership figures.
As per Deadline,
‘Will the real Ben Reilly please stand up? Prime Video is closing in on an order for a new series set in Sony Pictures’ Universe of Marvel Characters based on the popular Clone Saga storyline from the Marvel Comics, more specifically the second Clone Saga story arc that focuses on two Spider-Man clones, Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, sources tell Deadline.’
Wait, is this now being called the SPUMC? You gotta love these Sony Marketing guys. “Folks, the SSMU may have failed, now let me introduce you to our future, the SPUMC!”
‘The new series, written by American Born Chinese creator Kelvin Yu, will succeed Spider-Noir, which was canceled by Prime Video this month after one season. It starred Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, whose alter ego was the title character. In the comic books, Spider-Man Noir is Peter Parker, with the identity switched for the TV series because of rights carveouts.’

Lanterns is hot right now, so I could totally see some Sony Exec using it as a pitch idea for this series. As always, I will hope this is a good series and worth watching, but Sony’ track record when Marvel Studios isn’t involved is frankly deplorable in live-action.
Well, what do you think, are you enamoured by the idea of a Clone Saga series from Sony airing on Amazon Prime? Just don’t expect it to go on for many seasons as Amazon have a habit of cutting Sony shows after 2-3 seasons. Thoughts below.
