Finally the Spider-Man movies coming to Disney+, yay! Sadly, it’s in Japan and U.K. only for now, boo. The announcements were made within the last 24 hours and it looks like Japan is getting the better end of the deal. Far as I can tell, every single Spider-Man movie outside of No Way Home is hitting Disney+ Japan. This will include animated film Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse. Most of them are also coming to the U.K. However, so far there is no word or listing for Spider-Man: Far From Home, or Spider-Verse in the U.K.?

As said, Japan seems to get more.

So far, sadly there is no word of any of these moving arriving on Disney+ elsewhere. One would imagine if they were coming elsewhere we’d have hard about it by now, but who knows?
It has to be said, that Disney+, (from a fan point of view) feels like home for Spider-Man. Especially given three of the most recent movies are set within the Disney owned MCU. And yet, Disney does not own these movies whatsoever, so it really is up to Sony to decide where they go. Sony are a business, not a fan focused dream machine. That means if other streamers offer bigger fees, they will go where the money is. Most of these movies are available on other services depending on the rights per region.

It would be cool if Disney could do a deal to have the live-action films appear on Disney+ for good, but maybe that’s just not possible. I own both of the MCU movies on 4K disk anyway, which I don’t buy for the other movies owned by Disney. I also probably still have DVD’s somewhere of the Original Spider-Man trilogy and as my son was a fan, definitely have the Amazing Spider-Man movies. In other words, this won’t affect me at all. Still, it’s cool for some subscribers I guess?
Just as long as you are based in Japan or the U.K. that is.
