With production underway on J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX, we’ve had a steady stream of images make their way onto the web. This next batch comes courtesy of the fan site Making Star Wars.
In the latest gallery of photos, we are treated to some luscious, green forest landscapes that give credibility to some of the rumors we’ve heard regarding jungle and forest settings at Pinewood studios. Take a look at the photos below, and feel free to head to their site for the rest of the photos.

Perhaps the biggest reveal here is the presence of the Millennium Falcon. It’s not really a spoiler to say that the Millennium Falcon will be in the movie (I mean, who would have thought there’d ever be a mainline Star Wars film that DIDN’T have the Falcon?), so I think it’s much more interesting to speculate about the setting.

Of course, one big parallel fans will find is that Return of the Jedi, the third film in the original trilogy, had the forest moon of Endor as a key setting. This pretty much confirms the trend will continue of them having similar settings for each film (Jakku in The Force Awakens, Crait in The Last Jedi) in the sequel trilogy, While I don’t think there’s any chance of this actually being Endor — nor do I think the Ewoks will return — this does seem to play into the idea that J.J. Abrams loves his parallels with source material.
But can he make things different enough to make them interesting in their own right? That will be the big question.
