Stranger Things first hit Netflix back in 2016 with each season breaking viewership records. The horror/fantasy series has been a staple for the streaming giant being able to grow its audience over the past seven years.
The internet is still recovering from a hectic weekend after the release of Stranger Things 4 Part 2. With so much marketing going into this final act fans were worried about the fate of their favorite characters from Hawkins. Give credit to Netflix’s marketing campaign for getting fans all worked and hyped. The finale to Stranger Things 4 did not dissapoint with some amazing storytelling and character arcs.

In one of the most climatic season finales of a show, the fan favorite Eddie Munson sacrificed his life to protect his new friends. Fans of the Stranger Things have been duped before to believe a character is dead only to come back again in the following season. But for those getting their hopes up for a Eddie Munson return, it doesn’t appear to be happening. In a new interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the creators of Stranger Things revealed that, yes, Eddie is definitely dead. If you don’t have time to check out the podcast, Matt and Ross Duffer kept their comments short and sweet when asked if Eddie is truly dead:
Matt Duffer: Yes.
Ross Duffer: Sadly, yeah.
You can understand why some fans might doubt this answer. Since the beginning of Stranger Things we have seen the return of characters “coming back from the dead” like Dr. Brenner and of course Hopper who was “vaporized” at the end of season 3.

The Duffer brothers teased before Part 2 premiered that not everyone might make it to Stranger Things 5, which will be the final season of the show. The finale did provide a lot of twists and turns but ultimately it was only Eddie. While he was the only one from the group to die in the finale, his death was impactful.
