Supergirl Movie In The Works From 22 Jump Street Screenwriter

It’s been about five minutes until we’ve heard about an upcoming project for the DC Extended Universe, and you know what that means? It means it’s time to report on the latest DC superhero to get their own film! The hero in question is none other than Superman’s cousin Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl., Deadline reports.

According to the outlet, Warner Bros. and DC are currently developing a film based on the heroine (to be clear, it would not be based on the iteration of the character from The CW series of the same name, pictured above), and working on the script is Oren Uziel, who has worked on such films as 22 Jump Street and The Cloverfield Paradox. In addition to those two, he has also worked on the Mortal Kombat: Legacy series, is reportedly working on a Mortal Kombat film, as well as the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Clearly, this guy is pretty busy and knows what’s up.

There are currently no details as to what the film will be about, and this is a surprising bit of news since audiences are still waiting on a Man of Steel sequel to see Superman actually act like the Superman for the comics. Will DC forego that in favor of his cousin? There are also no details as to whether or not Henry Cavill’s Superman will actually show up in the movie.

This comes on the heels of the Justice League failure, which led to Walter Hamada leading the charge over at DC for these films. We’ve seen a big about-face in the universe’s overall direction, and with that in mind, this seems to be in keeping with that approach.
