Season four of Supergirl introduced us to Ben Lockwood played by Sam Witwer. He played a huge role as Agent Liberty, the leader of the Children of Liberty. Their role was to exterminate all extraterrestrials and establish humans as the superior race on Earth. During the season he was arrested and later pardoned by the President and appointed as the Director of the United States Bureau of Alien Affairs later renamed as Secretary of Alien Affairs. Now with his role in Supergirl seemingly over, Witwer is ready to jump to another CW series.
According to Comicbook.com Witwer will be joining the cast of The CW’s Riverdale‘s fourth season in a recurring role of a prep school lecturer named Mr. Chipping and part of a subplot involving a prestigious school close to Riverdale High. His character will have his sights set on Jughead Jones, played by Cole Sprouse, when he is taken to a “very sort of Gossip Girl Upper East Side preppy, pretentious, richy-rich silver spoon [school] and he’s going to be the new blood”. This was described by Sprouse during Riverdale’s San Diego Comic-Con panel a few weeks back.
Here is the official character description for Witwer’s character:
Handsome, bookish and cool, Mr. Chipping teaches creative writing at a prestigious prep school near Riverdale. He recruits Jughead for his seminar, and while he’s eminently inspiring to his students, there’s a darkness hidden far beneath the surface…
I have liked Witwer’s roles in the past like in Smallville, Once Upon a Time and not to mention the already mentioned above Supergirl. I look forward to seeing him the fourth season of Riverdale. Are you looking forward to seeing Witwer in Riverdale? Let us know in the comment section below!
The fourth season of The CW’s Riverdale kicks off Wednesday, October 9th at 8/7c.
