The legend of Superman Lives has become one of great legends of cinema. After all, Batman director Tim Burton was on board to helm the project, and had he gone through with it it would have been the first instance of a director moving from one high-profile superhero film to another. and to have gone from the Caped Crusader to the Man of Steel? It’s pretty crazy.
Attached to play Kal-El was none other than the living legend Nicolas Cage, who has since gone on to become even more famous and popular in the age of the internet. The film gained further notoriety when filmmaker Jon Schnepp made the documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?.
That movie had in-depth interviews with all the talent involved behind the scenes of the doomed movie, and with it came a whole bevy of unseen footage. To be perfectly frank, I’m not entirely sure this footage that claims to be exclusive is new. I’ve seen the film a couple times, but can’t put my finger on whether or not any of these shots was in it. I will say that even if it is new footage, it looks very similar to what’s been shown already.
Regardless, if you haven’t had a chance to see the unique costume that Burton and co. had in mind for the film, take a look. It’s unlike anything we’ve seen from the costume before and likely unlike anything we will ever see.
