Host Chris Harrison always declares that “it’s the most dramatic season yet.” For 2020, it most definitely one of the most dramatic seasons of ABC’s The Bachelorette.

For the 16th season of The Bachelorette, the show had its greatest challenge in reality television history by dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. Logistically, the producers of the show endured with contestant quarantines, coronavirus testing, and planning all the dates in one location at La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs.

The show started off by enlisting Clare Crawley, a 39-year-old hairstylist from Sacramento, California. With her selection, Crawley marked as the older Bachelorette in the show’s history, in which a previous Bachelorette Rachel Lindsey was 32 during her season.

Then the big twist happened.

Crawley fell in love with a contestant named Dale on the very first day of shooting. By the fourth episode, she left the show by eliminating all the rest of the contestants. Thus, it made it the shortest The Bachelorette season yet.

However, the show’s producers didn’t want to end the show early. They already lined up a backup lead for the show with Newport Beach, Calif.-native Tayshia Adams. Now, it’s Adams’ turn to find true love in the rest of the season of The Bachelorette.
