The Acolyte Creator Leslye Headland Wants To Make A Live-Action Knights Of The Old Republic

The Acolyte creator Leslye Headland wants to go farther back in time to make a live-action Knights of the Old Republic.

As per a recent interview, The Acolyte creator Leslye Headland wants to go farther back in time to make a live-action Knights of the Old Republic. KOTR is no longer canon and considered Legends, so there is room to manoeuvre in that period. Whereas The Acolyte is set towards the end of the High Republic period KOTR is much older, and set before the Sith introduced the rule of two.

In other words it would likely be very different than the period we see in The Acolyte. With war between the Jedi and Sith at its peak alongside the many Sith fighting against one another.

Speaking with Omelete and translated by IGN, Headland said;

“I’ve always wanted to explore a live-action version of the Knights of the Old Republic game and Kreia’s character,” Headland said. “I think it would be a really interesting story to bring to life.”

Kreia is a blind Force-sensitive who forms a bond with the player in KOTR 2 through the Force. In the story, Kreia is the protagonist’s mentor, but rejects the divide between the light side and dark side.

As to whether this is a good idea or not, is hard to say. Kreia was a popular character, but nowhere near as popular as Revan. There are also millions of current Star Wars fans who likely never played Knights of the Old Republic because they were too young, or didn’t have the OG Xbox. So there’s no guarantee this would work as a concept.

As for my own opinion, when it comes to Headland I will reserve judgement until The Acolyte is ended. I thought the first two episodes were okay, and could be good depending on where it goes. However, it could also go the other way and if so, I wouldn’t bee keen on this.

It’s also worth pointing out that if The Acolyte is successful then there are plans for further stories set in that period from Headland. The series was not designed to end on a cliffhanger. However, Headland has previously indicated she has ideas for a Season 2 and beyond.

So, Lesley Headland wants to go farther back in time to make a live-action Knights of the Old Republic? Are you interested, or not? Thoughts below.
