The last thing I would expect in 2019 is a game based on a property that was released nearly twenty years ago. Then lo and behold I read that there is a Blair Witch video game available for preorder at this very moment. Yes, that’s right you can head to Steam and preorder Blair Witch today. The game is scheduled to drop on August 30, 2019. As of this writing that’s just 15 days away. Here’s the description listed over on Steam.
It’s 1996. A young boy disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. As Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, you join the search. What starts as an ordinary investigation soon turns into an endless nightmare as you confront your fears and the Blair Witch, a mysterious force that haunts the woods…
Bloober, the team behind the game has crafted what looks to be a successful game that will stay true to the Blair Witch’s cinematic experience. Because man does this look scary and intense. The team behind the game have obviously done their research into the Blair Witch mythos and just what makes that brand go bump in the night. So, check out this 4K tour through the woods in all its gloriousness.
What do you think? Is Blair Witch the type of game you’d play? It seems like something I’d be interested in. But that could be because I am a sucker for nostalgia and can recall the days news stations ran commercials for the original Blair Witch and stated the filmmakers had truly “found” the footage to cobble together the tale of the Blair Witch.
