Right now we have no idea if there will be The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Season 2? For now Marvel are staying quiet on which shows will get a Season 2 and which will be one-off’s. However, thanks to one of the writers of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Derek Kolstadt, we might have a hint?
In a recent interview with Collider Kolstadt, who wrote two episodes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, was talking about Easter eggs and cameo appearances. Kolstadt describes how they can ask Marvel who they can use, and sometimes they get surprised by a yes answer. He also talks about how some Easter eggs or clues may not be resolved in this show. Kolstadt mentioned how some clues won’t pay off till a future Season or another project altogether.
“Marvel’s in the room when you’re breaking story, so [co-executive producer] Zoie [Nagelhout] was the lead on that. There were a number of times we’d say, ‘Can we use this character? Or allude to this character? Or is there a character that would do this, that would be cool to flesh out the world?’ And a lot of times, it wouldn’t work, but every now and then, it would be like, ‘Guys, I think that’s kind of working.’ And suddenly, when you think of the noir of it all, to have someone just say something in the background, where five people are going to be like, ‘Did he just say what I thought he said?’ And it just alludes to a larger world. Even if the payoffs aren’t in the first season, or even our series, the seeds have been planted.”

So the line “Even if the payoffs aren’t in the first season” would indicate to me that a Season 2 was at least discussed within that writer’s room. Though I have always maintained any sequel series to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will need a name change. I just can’t see Sam not being Captain America by the end of Season 1. If there really is a Season 2 being thought of, then I always figured it might be called something with Captain America in the title.
One again, we also know to keep our eyes out for Easter eggs and clues for the future. However unlike WandaVision, can we also take note of Kolstadt’s works that some of these are very long term Easter eggs? I.e. they will not be paid off in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
