The DCEU currently feels like a hurricane of announcements, rumors, and everything in between. At the center of that mess is The Flash. The glaring issue is that the star of that film, Ezra Miller can’t seem to stay out of the headlines for controversial behavior. With the recent shelving of Batgirl, there is a growing population that feels that in light of all of the negative headlines, this one should be shelved as well.
The problem is that Warner Bros. Discovery has already said that they love the film and were excited to release it. But in light of everything, the pressure is mounting for them to make a decision. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a source close to the situation believes the studio is preparing for three possible scenarios.
In the first one, Miller seeks help. Apparently, the studios have received indications will be looking to get professional help. The actor would then give an interview at some point explaining his behavior over the past few years. Followed by limited press for The Flash.
In the second scenario, and to me most likely, Miller doesn’t reach out for help. Warner Bros. proceeds to release the film as planned. But Miller is not a prominent part of marketing and publicity despite being the main character. Also, the role would be recast going forward.
Then there is the third and most dramatic scenario. Things get worse with Miller, with more headlines, and more scandals. This would force the hand of Warner Bros. to kill The Flash. No reshoots or recasting, the film is just gone. This would be an unprecedented move by Warner Bros. as they would be scrapping a $200 million dollar film. In a climate where they are trying to save or recover money.

Miller was cast as The Flash way back in 2014 when a solo Flash film was announced. But it has been a long road of directors coming and going over the years. Miller first played the role of Barry Allen in a cameo appearance in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Then another one at the beginning of Suicide Squad. He finally made a main role appearance in Justice League.
Now it’s a waiting game to see which side will bend first. Will Warner Bros. Discover make a definite move? Or will Miller continue his erratic behavior? Only time will tell in the now soap opera that is known as the DCEU.
