The Mandalorian Season 2 – Jon Favreau Confirms The Series Is Still Set For Its Original October Release
Luckily, production on The Mandalorian Season 2 finished shooting before the near industry-wide shutdown of films and television projects due to the pandemic. Over the last few months, we have from time-to-time that the series would still hit its intended release.
However, today comes confirmation from creator Jon Favreau himself. He recently spoke at a roundtable that also included Dave Filoni, Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow. You can check out what Favreau had to say below.
“We were lucky enough to have finished photography before the lockdown, so thanks to how technology-forward Lucasfilm and ILM are, we’ve been able to do all the editing visual effects remotely… It will be available as planned on Disney+ in October. I hope people are having as much seeing it as we are having making it.”

The October release isn’t new information. However, Favreau confirming the show is still on track for it’s intended release is the reason for this article. I thoroughly enjoyed the first season. I am probably ost excited for this show to return than any other that’s in my current queue. The show also did much to heal a broken fanbase.
When Disney first bought Lucasfilm and named Kathleen Kennedy as president, I was all for it. Growing up, I saw her name on many of my favorite films. Most of them involving George Lucas or Steven Spielberg. So my thinking was Kennedy was an awesome choice, she was handpicked by George Lucas himself as his successor for a galaxy far, far away.
However, for the most part, I haven’t enjoyed the content made under Kennedy’s reign. If you ask me, Favreau and Filoni should have been running this show the whole time.
