Are you ready for some more Star Wars news??? Sure you are, and the news I have for you today deals with the Star Wars film industry.  Earlier this week we announced that Lucasfilm and Disney were focusing on their small-screen productions regarding the connected universe helmed by Dave Filoni.

But, of course, it doesn’t stop there.

From my source at Lucasfilm, the next Star Wars film won’t be released until… 2024! Now, for some of you, that may not be a big surprise since the Covid-19 pandemic pushed back every major studio picture in 2020. Executives at Lucasfilm and Disney believe that studios will not be able to operate at normal production until late 2021 or early 2022, when a Covid-19 vaccine may be available or better medicine to combat the virus.

Also, early projections show that movie theaters won’t be able to operate at full capacity until a vaccine is available which will of course hurt revenue for studios. With everything going against the movie industry right now, Disney does not want to take any chances in the immediate future with their biggest franchise.

But which movie will they release first? The first Star Wars movie to be released will be from Taika Waititi who will be directing and co-writing alongside Krysty Wilson-Cairns.
