The Witcher seems to be about as close to an answer to Game of Thrones as one can get. It has the blood, it has the sex, it has the intrigue, and in Netflix’s case, it has leading man Henry Cavill at the forefront. Fantasy fans have been hungry for good adaptations for decades, and finally, technology and production value on television has caught up to the visions authors have had in their brains.
Game of Thrones pioneered this territory, and now The Witcher appears to be benefitting greatly. The series is officially set to hit the streaming service on December 20, and a new trailer has come to give us a better look at the dark adventure to come.
So, I’m not going to lie: I still have no idea what this series is about, but it looks like a good time. I still need to add the book series to my to-be-read list, but I’ve accepted there’s no way I’ll make it by the show actually hits. Also, as a side note, did anyone else feel like those sword sound effects sounded super generic and…off? I’m sure the actual show will have more appropriate ones, but it was a bit distracting.
But what about you fans who have read the books or played the games? Also, what do you think of the infamous walnut armor, now that it’s been revealed in greater context? Let us know down below!
