Blood Origin has also added Minnie Driver to its cast as Seanchai, “a shapeshifting collector of old lore with the abilities to travel between time and worlds.” Seanchai will act as the narrator for the show due to her time-shifting nature.
“Where The Witcher came from is a whole world and you need some help understanding that,” Driver tells Netflix. “So I’m pivotal in helping people understand where this origin story comes from.”
About all we truly know now of Blood Origin is that it is set around 1200 years prior to the events of The Witcher and should introduce the very first Witcher as well as show the pivotal ‘conjunction of the spheres’ which sets this whole story in motion.

So far I have enjoyed The Witcher. Yet, I still feel like there can be a lot of improvements to how the story is being adapted. As with all fantasy series, there are some fans furious when anything is changed. Myself, I accept adaptation requires change. Though, there are some decisions so far in The Witcher that have left my baffled. Though from Season 3 onward my own knowledge of the story gets sketchy I’ll admit.
As for Blood Origin, the clips that have made their way online have not impressed me. Though as always, I’ll give it a chance. Nightmare of the Wolf I thought was fantastic in terms of the only animated effort thus far.
What do you think as The Witcher Season 3 hits next Summer and Blood Origin on Christmas Day? Are you still positive on Netflix’s The Witcher franchise? Thoughts below as always about the release windows.
