Tim and Zach Croll didn’t necessarily saw the opportunity to join Fox’s LEGO Masters season two to showcase their LEGO building talents or winning the ultimate prize. It was rather that Tim saw the opportunity to bond with his son Zach on a reality competition show by playing with LEGO bricks.

Earlier this week, the father-son duo was eliminated after a Earth-shattering episode that involved a difficult challenge for the contestants. The contestants must build a stable and durable structure that withstands a ground sharking experience. With 11 levels of vibrations, each team must construct a four-foot LEGO structure to withstand the shakes. The two most vulnerable teams faced elimination with aesthetics as the tie-breaker from the judges.

With the season two of LEGO Masters underway, the father-son pair marked the second eliminated team from twelve teams of participants.

Hosted by Will Arnett, LEGO Masters pits teams of two LEGO enthusiasts head-to-head with infinite possibilities and challenges in a studio with nearly an unlimited supply of LEGO bricks.

Throughout the competition, the show encourages the amateur builders to put their challenges to the test. The competing pairs who impress the judges the most progress to the next round, until the finale, during which the top teams face off for a cash prize, the ultimate LEGO trophy, and the grand title of LEGO Master.

The judges are LEGO masters The LEGO Company senior design manager and creative lead Jamie Berard and The LEGO Company senior design manager Amy Corbett. Host Will Arnett is no stranger to the LEGO family as he voiced LEGO Batman in the LEGO Movie franchise, including The LEGO Batman movie, and The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with the father Tim Croll, one-half of the father-son team. We talked about the challenges, his father-son bonding, any regrets, and the carefully plotted story of the family cat. In their elimination episode, they built a towering structure that is described as an “interlocking t-structure.”
