The Boy Wonder himself, Robin is a character that’s beloved among fandom. Interestingly enough, in the case of Dick Grayson, it’s not his time as Robin that gets many fanboys pumped, but rather his new alter ego, Nightwing. The new series Titans, with its dark and brooding tone and bloody fights, seems like a good fit for that next stage in Dick’s life. But will we ever get it?
TVLine sat down with executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Geoff Johns, and they asked them that very question. “That’s the long game,” Goldsman told them. “Our whole first season is an origin episode, the birth of the team.”
As of this writing, Titans EP On Robin Becoming Robin: ‘That’s The Long Game’ has already been greenlit for a second season, and with that in mind, we can hope that they’ll actually get to that point, but it at least gets us one step closer to that day. But don’t think Goldsman is just playing lip service.

“Obviously, Dick Grayson’s evolution from Robin to Nightwing is a big part of his character,” Johns added. “And at some point he will evolve into that.”
At the very least it seems like it’s not something they’re planning on just throwing it, but something that will come naturally, as the moniker is in the DNA of the character.
As a side note, does anyone actually find it hilarious that Akiva Goldsman, writer of Batman and Robin, actually has a chance of getting the character right and morphing him into Nightwing? I know it tickles me.
