Tom Hiddleston Doesn’t Know If He’s In ‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been an amazing and successful experiment. Twelve films into this world, and audiences couldn’t be more engaged. Sure, not every film is the most acclaimed, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a genuinely bad apple in the bunch. However, if you had to poke at one of Marvel’s weaknesses, you could easily point to one of its countless forgettable villains.

However, among those forgettable villains, we have one shining gem in Loki, who emerged as the big bad in the first THOR as well as the first AVENGERS film. The character was also one of the better aspects of THOR: THE DARK WORLD, and as such, it comes as no surprise that we’ll be seeing him return in THOR: RAGNAROK.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, Hiddleston expressed his excitement to come back for the threequel, but then dropped an interesting little nugget.

“THOR 3 will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years. I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate.”

You read that correctly. It looks like there are no current plans to bring him back after the film. One would normally read that as a conclusion that his character is set to die in the film, but when asked if he’s coming on board for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, he gives an even more perplexing answer.

“I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know. They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along.”

It’s no surprise that they make these things up as they go along, but in Hiddleston stating that he doesn’t know if Loki is returning, it seems to imply that his character will make it to the end credits in THOR: RAGNAROK, right? Well, not really. We can’t forget that this is a comic book movie universe, and as such, the fates of characters are never final. All we can conclude from this is that Hiddleston doesn’t know the fate of the character. What’s more, he seems ready to call it quits.

What do you make of this news? Is this the end of the MCU’s most intriguing villain? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below!
