In a recent interview star Tom Holland says he’s excited for the upcoming Scottish location filming on Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Speaking in an Instagram interview Holland talked about being restricted through COVID on the last movie. Therefore, he’s excited for some proper location filming in Glasgow, Scotland.
“I’m obviously over the moon and so excited. Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal, And I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of Covid. We shot the entire film on stages. Now, we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow, we’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set-piece that we’re putting together. So it’s gonna feel like making Spider-Man 1 (Homecoming) again. You know, it’s been such a long time that I’ve done it that it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air. And I think the fans are gonna be over-the-moon with what we’re putting together.”

As for what that set piece might be, we actually have some information. We’ve also found out filming in Glasgow has been moved up by two days. Filming will now begin on August 1st, until the 15th. However, The Times UK says that a massive explosion is planned.
‘Location experts were seen paying close attention to the Scottish Legal Life Assurance building, constructed in the 1920s in the style of a steel-framed American office block of the era. Special effects experts are understood to be working on how to explode a digital model of the striking structure.’
One assumes this big digital explosion will be part of the big set-piece Holland describes.
