Toy Story 4’s Final Trailer Is Decidedly More Lighthearted

If you’re going into a Pixar movie, chances are you’ll be shedding at least a few tears over the course of its runtime. If that Pixar film happens to be a Toy Story movie, chances are you’ll be pretty inconsolable for at least an hour afterward. While many of us were (and are still) unsure about the prospect of a fourth film, the first trailer that hit convinced me that the waterworks would be fully operational when the movie actually hits, which I’m all far.

Of course, at the end of the day, this is still a family movie, and they need to make sure this thing appeals to kids as well. With this latest, final trailer for Toy Story 4, it’s clear that the market they’re appealing to is the kids market. It’s decidedly lighter, with a real focus on getting Forky back (as opposed to the existential crisis Woody is going through) and the laughs audiences will have along the way.

Below is the official synopsis for Toy Story 4:

“Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”), Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019.”
