If you’re a zombie movie fan, chances are you’ve already checked out Train to Busan. This Korean action-horror film took a standard zombie formula and put it on a moving train. The ending, like many zombie films before it, gave some closure to the main characters’ story, but there was still a lot of bad going on in the world. At the end of the day, there’s still plenty of stories that can be told in the world. That’s exactly the approach they are taking with Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula.
This film comes courtesy of Yeon Sang-ho, who directed the first movie. The story takes place four years after the events of the first film, though it doesn’t act as a continuation of the original story. Instead, it’s just some goings-on somewhere else in the world. While Train to Busan wasn’t exactly lacking in action, Peninsula really does look to be amping things up to 11.

There is one comment on the video that I couldn’t agree more with. It says that Peninsula could be the Aliens to Train to Busan’s Alien. That means it could take a lot of what worked in the first movie and dial up the action. It may not feel the same, but it could be great in its own way. While we’ve only seen a trailer, that’s exactly the feel I’m getting from Peninsula.

This film does seem to be bringing tons of extra pulp to the table, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see it.
Below is the official synopsis for Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula:
“Jung-seok, a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.”
What do you think of the new trailer? Does it feature enough of that Train to Busan tone for you, or do you worry that it’s far too removed from what made that first movie great? Let us know your thoughts down below!
