Renowned UFC star Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is set to expand his repertoire from the octagon to the silver screen as he takes on the lead role in Winter: Battleground, an upcoming sci-fi action film from Epic Pictures Group. The film, directed by David Christopher Pitt, promises a gripping story set in a dystopian, AI-dominated future. Cerrone’s character—a seasoned warrior—leads a team against powerful forces in a dangerous, post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Scheduled for release in early 2025, Winter: Battleground marks Cerrone’s debut as a lead in a major film. His transition to acting brings his signature grit and intensity to a story of resilience and survival, themes that have defined his fighting career. Epic Pictures Group will unveil an exclusive trailer and sneak peek footage at the American Film Market in Las Vegas this November, building anticipation for what is already described as a “knockout” cinematic experience.

The plot of Winter: Battleground plunges audiences deep into a future America ruled by artificial intelligence. Cerrone’s character must battle assassins sent by a corrupt, AI-controlled government. Joining Cerrone are Johnny Messner (Black Heat, Call Her King) and Kayleigh Gilbert (TV’s Don’t Look Deeper, Spiral Farm), who each bring their own intensity to this futuristic, adrenaline-pumping narrative.
Adding to the excitement, Cerrone has recently announced that he’s set to make his return to the UFC octagon to achieve a remarkable milestone of 50 fights. Known for his fearlessness, Cowboy’s reappearance in the ring has fans eagerly anticipating not only his UFC comeback but also his debut as a cinematic action hero.
