VENOM Returns To His Roots In A Bold New Way In Battleworld #3 And Venom #252

A new legend is about to be born from the legacy of one of Marvel’s most iconic moments. This November, Marvel Comics will unleash a new symbiotic story in Battleworld #3, leading directly into Venom #252, a double dose of web slinging, symbiote fueled storytelling that fans won’t want to miss.

More than four decades after Amazing Spider-Man #252 introduced the world to Spider-Man’s mysterious black costume later revealed to be the alien symbiote that would become Venom Marvel is delivering a fresh twist on symbiote lore. In Battleworld #3, an all-new alternate Venom is revealed, donning a red and blue Spidey suit in a moment that echoes the past while forging a bold new future.

A New Hero Emerges from the Multiverse

Battleworld, the new limited series launching in September from writer Christos Gage and artist Marcus To, follows in the footsteps of Secret Wars and its 2015 spiritual successor by gathering heroes from across the multiverse onto a stitched together planet for an epic clash of realities. And in issue #3, one of those heroes emerges as a brand-new version of Venom—one with a look that’s both classic and revolutionary.

This new character is the brainchild of writer Jordan Morris (Web of Spider-Verse: New Blood), who is teaming up with acclaimed Marvel Stormbreaker artist and Spider-Verse designer Luciano Vecchio to bring him to life. The red and blue symbiote wearing alternate Venom will make his proper debut in a special backup story in Venom #252 this December, written by Morris and illustrated by Jesús Saíz.

A Legendary Reunion and Stunning Homages

Adding another layer of nostalgia and excitement, Venom #252 will feature a special backup story by the legendary Amazing Spider-Man creative team of Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz. Their return marks a direct tie back to the original black suit saga that began in ASM #252 and forever changed Spider-Man history.

In addition to the exciting story content, Marvel is treating fans to an array of variant covers and design reveals:

  • Luciano Vecchio’s official design sheet for the new red-and-blue symbiote suit.
  • Main cover for Battleworld #3 by Leinil Francis Yu.
  • Venom variant cover by Phillip Tan, spotlighting the new symbiote hero.
  • Variant covers for Venom #252 by R.B. Silva and Cory Smith, paying homage to the original Secret Wars #7 and Amazing Spider-Man #252 covers.

Don’t Miss the Biggest Costume Reveal in 40 Years

With the stakes set high and fan expectations soaring, Marvel is encouraging fans to secure their copies of Battleworld #3 and Venom #252 now at their local comic shop. Whether you’re a die hard symbiote fan or a collector of multiversal mayhem, these issues promise to be historic additions to the legacy of Venom.

Prepare for the next evolution in symbiote storytelling, because when lightning strikes twice, it’s freakin’ venomous.
