Lynda Carter became one of Hollywood’s first successful TV superheroes when she starred in ABC’s and CBS’ Wonder Woman (1975-1979). And though her career spans more than 40 years and 43 credits, she remains most-associated with this early, iconic role. And with good reason too, she was simply amazing as the original Amazonian princess. The series remains entrenched as a seminal moment in TV history, largely due to Carter’s charisma and talent.
Given last year’s breakout movie version of Wonder Woman, from director Patty Jenkins, it’s only natural that fans and media would ponder the chances of Carter appearing in the sequel. Carter and Jenkins are good friends — Jenkins will be a presenter at Carter’s Hollywood Walk of Fame dedication — and have discussed the possibility of a role in the next film, which begins filming in May.

There is nothing definitive to report on a Wonder Woman 2 role or cameo yet, but Carter sounds intrigued: “I’m just going to leave it up to the universe and Patty,” according to Variety.
Jenkins was more expansive in her comments regarding Carter:
“[Lynda] is just the coolest, smartest, most powerful yet elegant, beautiful and lovely person… [It’s] quite incredible to become a part of the story with someone I admire as much as I do Lynda. As the years have gone on, I’ve come to admire that she carried that same spirit into her personal life as well. She lives an incredible and very unique and successful life. She’s had an incredible career but also [has] the personal life and family, which is just as successful.”
Carter has been active in pop culture, TV, and the superhero genre recently. She appeared in three episodes of The CW’s Supergirl (playing the President of the United States) and has performed voice-over work in video games, such as Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls Online.
It would be great to see Carter turn up in Wonder Woman 2 in any capacity. Officially connecting the original TV series with the modern blockbuster films would be appropriate and kind of amazing, too. Melissa Benoist, who stars in The CW’s Supergirl described Carter as, “fearless and she has this light about her that kind of breaks through everything.”
