Just what is Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) up to in Avengers: Doomsday? Today’s latest Barside Buzz may give us some hints, and certainly indicate that Cumberbatch did film scenes for Doomsday.
Let’s begin with that rumor we covered previously. Doctor Doom has a right hand man, also wearing a Doom mask and it’s a sorcerer that uses a sling ring. Many leakers and fans assumed this will be Doctor Strange.
That came from Daniel RPK and since we published Daniel has further said that the mask worn by this person has a third eye hole in the forehead. Cumberbatch of course has never been confirmed for Doomsday and has both said he’s in it and not in at different times.
Now on to today’s Buzz and Murphy’s Multiverse are saying they have information Cumberbatch definitely shot “pivotal, high-security scenes” under a codename. John Campea is confirming this and reporting that codename was Ivan.

Of course when you add all this to the actual comic book storyline being adapted, it points to Strange being on Team Doom in Doomsday. However, there could be a twist in the tail planned if this character never shows their face, so this is hardly a confirmed spoiler. It does seem likely that Cumberbatch will appear as a version of Doctor Strange at least though in Doomsday.
I said yesterday in the related section above that we are starting to get to some real spoiler territory now for Doomsday. So depending on how you view spoilers, just be very careful from this point out. This one might be a spoiler, but it might not. I’ll always mark anything I think is treading there as a potential Spoiler in the title.
So, what is Doctor Strange up to in Avengers: Doomsday? Do you agree with the majority of fans and insiders that Strange will be on Team Doom? Thoughts below.
