A newly released Wheel of Time S3E4 clip shows Lan sparring with Aviendha in the Aiel Waste, check it out. The clip was released exclusively by Nerdist, but you can watch through their YouTube channel below.
It’s a small clip folks, but warning, potential Episode 4 spoilers here.
I won’t get into the coolness of any of this, but I guess it’s two badasses having a play around. I do think it’s scene which will happen in the early part of Episode 4. The showrunners clearly wish to cement the idea in place that the Aiel never use swords, and Rand’s connection to them.
I’m pretty sure its Rhuidean this week, so answers are coming to questions about the Aiel. This serves as a bit of a fun early on in the episode and also highlights some important information they want to make sure audiences know up front. If it is Rhuidean this week, and I’m sure showrunner Rafe Judkins told us it was pre-season, then I see the thinking.

Though, overall as a scene, if I was to judge just that alone, I would point to it being quite cut happy. There’s no sense of this being done in merely a few shots. However, since this is not some really important moment from the books, I’m okay with that. The real meat of this episode is going to be what happens once they arrive at their destination. It’s a moment (probably), that as a book fan I’ve always wanted to see adapted in the visual medium. No more on that for now though. You’ll need to watch Wheel of Time this Thursday/Friday depending on your location and see for yourself.
